Tips on wyoming Background Searches
Wyoming criminal records can be obtained by contacting the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation. The state allows anyone to request a records check on themselves and those individuals are then able to provide that record to a designated party, such as a potential employer. They will need to submit a State of Wyoming applicant fingerprint card with a valid signature on the back. The fee must also be submitted, which is $15. The fee for an additional FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) criminal history check is $24.
Requests are payable by money order and no personal checks or cash is acceptable by mail. If the request is made in person, cash is accepted, but it must be exact change.
The process takes about 10 business days, but this is variable depending on the volume of requests received in a particular month. Fingerprint based searches should allow three weeks for processing.
The submission of a fingerprint card is absolutely required for the accuracy of the requested Wyoming criminal records. Name only searches are not reliably accurate and therefore the process must be completed as instructed on the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation website. Other helpful websites include the Wyoming Judicial Branch and the Wyoming Department of Corrections.
